KOHLER AT
SALONE DEL MOBILE

For the 62nd annual Salone del Mobile design expo Kohler was looking to elevate their booth to new heights.

Working with the lofted dome above the central seating area our team saw a sincere potential to define the space with projection mapping.

By converging multiple projectors onto the ceiling we realized a canvas of surreal beauty, color, and light that became a focal point for the entire week.

THE EXPERIENCE

The effect was undeniable.

As people from around the world entered the space the effect of falling water relaxed and inspired.

Over the course of the week literally 100’s of thousands of patrons from around the world enjoyed the sublime beauty of water and dynamic colors that played into all the products on display.

THE SYSTEM

Pixel perfection while hiding the system.

Before getting on site our team worked meticulously with Studio Kohler to advance the location, angle, and lensing of the projectors.

By optimizing for viewing angles in every seat and a minimal system footprint we were able to hide the projectors behind a wall so that the experience itself shone through.

THE CONTENT

To create convincing and physically accurate water visuals is a creative challenge.

Luckily our studio is well versed in physics based fluid simulations for use in projection mapping projects.

The final effect was mesmerizing as digital drops of water fell through the center of the dome as if the viewer was standing in a shower.

Collisions with the side of the rim underscored a reality that lay just beyond the surface as colors highlighted in the product lineup refracted through the droplets.
